Excellence in Interprofessional CPD
With the evidence of the importance of exceptional healthcare teams in the provision of quality healthcare, educators continue to develop CPD education programs and conferences that are designed to enhance interprofessional practice. This award recognizes excellence in CPD activities designed to enhance interprofessional team practice and improve healthcare delivery.
For the purposes of this award, Interprofessional Education (IPE)/Collaboration (IPC) will be defined as per the WHO definition (2010): “Interprofessional education occurs when students from two or more professions learn about, from and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes.”
Award Criteria
- Demonstrated excellence in program/conference development (including evidence of effective needs assessment practices)
- Demonstrated excellence in learner engagement and active learning
- Demonstrated fulfillment of program objectives
- Equity, diversity and inclusion are addressed in one or more of the following: needs assessments, course objectives, subject/content, intended audience
- Evidence of effective evaluation strategies and evaluation outcomes
- Demonstrated impact on enhancing/improving IPE
- Nominated programs or conferences must have been accredited through UofT CPD
Eligibility
- Although this award is to recognize IPE, at least one nominated faculty member must be affiliated with University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine to be eligible
- This award is selected annually for programs that took place in the previous academic year. For example, the nomination process held in November 2022 will recognize programs or conferences that took place from July 1 2021 to June 30 2022

Required Submission Documents
- Letter of nomination and executive summary from a departmental chair, departmental CPD director, or designate (letters written from or signed by individuals from more than one department or faculty are accepted)
- Description of the educational program or intervention
- Copy of or live link to the program/conference agenda
- Needs assessment process and data on which the program/conference was developed
- Documentation of planning committee members
- Statement of program objectives
- Statement of learning outcomes if relevant (may be addressed in objectives)
- Data on learning outcomes (eg., data demonstrating changes in knowledge, behaviours, attitudes; feedback data stating proposed changes to practice by participants; an evaluation of the effect on team performance and/or health outcome

- Participant comments
All above documents must pertain to the current CPD program submitted for nomination
Optional Submission Documents
- Links to descriptions of previous programs MAY be submitted to show evolution of the program/conference if it has gone through major development over time (maximum of two years). Please include a brief description of those changes.

Fred Fallis Award in Online Learning recognizes an individual or group which has demonstrated innovation and excellence in online learning for health professionals

Excellence in Interprofessional CPD Award recognizes excellence in CPD activities designed to enhance interprofessional team practice and improve healthcare delivery

Ivan Silver Innovation Award recognizes excellence in innovation in a CPD initiative developed and delivered by a University of Toronto faculty member or team
Awards Deadline
Deadline for nominations for the previous academic year is November 30 (If November 30 falls on a weekend the deadline will be the following working day).
