Dr. Michael Goldberg is currently an Associate Professor in the Discipline of Periodontics at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry. He is the clinical director of the Centre for Advanced Dental Research and Care (CADRC) at Mount Sinai Hospital, which includes the Severe and Refractory Periodontal Disease Treatment Unit. Dr. Goldberg is also director of the Implant Monitoring Clinic at the Faculty of Dentistry, which incorporates the development of strategies for the management of peri-implant disease. In addition, he is the head of the division of Periodontology as well as an associate in the Wasser Pain Management Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Goldberg is in private specialty practice, limited to periodontics and implant surgery, in downtown Toronto.

Homam Albaghdadi is a general and hospital dentist with basic science and immunology backgrounds. He received his DDS training at the University of Toronto and went on to complete a hospital dental residency at Sinai Health System. His interest in learning science and health informatics led him to pursue further graduate education in community health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, which he combined with a health professions’ education fellowship through the Center of Ambulatory Care Education at Women’s College Hospital. He holds an Adjunct Professor appointment at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. He is on staff as a complex care dentist at Mount Sinai Hospital and has a growing educational role with dental residents. His research interests are in the category of expertise development, especially as it relates to superior patient and team communication, and in exploring how technology can enhance patient outcomes. 

Amir Azarpazhooh

Dr. Amir Azarpazhooh (pronounced “Azar pa joo”) earned his DDS in Iran in 2001 and advanced degrees in Dental Public Health (2007), Endodontics (2010), and a PhD (2011) from the University of Toronto.

He is a tenured Full Professor of Dentistry at the University of Toronto, specializing in Dental Public Health and Endodontics. He is also a Professor of Clinical Epidemiology at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and an investigator with the Toronto Health Economics and Technology Assessment Collaborative. At Mount Sinai Hospital, he leads the Divisions of Endodontics and Research and directs the Advanced Training Program in Orofacial Pain.

Amir has secured over $1.5M in grants, mentored more than 45 MSc/PhD students, edited an evidence-based dentistry textbook, authored seven book chapters, published over 300 papers, and presented at more than 90 national and international meetings.

With an H-index of 42 and an I10-index of 90, Amir’s research has received over 6,500 citations. He has been honored by Cochrane Canada, the Canadian Academy of Endodontics, the American Association of Endodontists, the WW Wood Award for Excellence in Dental Education, and the Journal of Endodontics Publication Awards (2020-2023). He also serves as Associate Editor for JOE, overseeing 100+ manuscripts annually.

Dr. Azarpazhooh is a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He practices part-time in a multi-specialty setting in Toronto and provides endodontic care to medically compromised patients at Mount Sinai Hospital. He enjoys traveling, cycling, photography, and gardening with his wife.

Bobby Baig

Dr. Baig received his dental degree from H.K.E.S Dental College, Gulbarga University, India in 1997. He has completed his residency at Government Dental College and Hospital in Hyderabad India.

Dr. Baig completed Advance Education in General Dentistry program and Graduate program in Prosthodontics at Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester New York state USA.

Dr. Baig is a Associate Professor at University of Rochester in the Department of Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester, USA. He also works as a Clinical Instructor in Prosthodontics in Mt Sinai Hospital, and Associate In Dentistry at University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry, Toronto, Canada, and private practice at Dental Specialists Group, Woodbridge and Prosthodontic Associates, Toronto in Ontario.

Dr. Baig is a board certified Prosthodontist in Canada and serves as a national examiner for national specialty examination of Prosthodontics administered by Royal College of Dentist of Canada.

Dr. Baig was awarded the Part time faculty Award for excellence in Teaching by the University of Rochester, NY, USA for the year 2019, Dr. Baig has a special interest in aesthetics and implant dentistry, Reconstructive Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics, Dental Ceramics and smile makeover procedures. Dr. Baig lectures to dental study clubs and professional organizations across North America and Southeast Asia.

Yvonne Chan

Dr Yvonne Chan is an Associate Professor, the Vice Chair of Education and Continuing Professional Development Director in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Toronto. She is the Otolaryngologist-in-chief at St. Michael’s Hospital. She finished her Otolaryngology residency at the University of Toronto and completed a Rhinology fellowship at the with Dr. Fred Kuhn in Georgia as well as an advanced endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery fellowship with Professors PJ Wormald and Alkis Psaltis in Australia. Since 2015, she has been the co-editor of the world-renowned Otolaryngology textbook, K. J. Lee’s Essential Otolaryngology now in its 12th edition. Other texts that she has co-edited include: Rhinology and Allergy: Clinical Reference Guide and Essential Paths to Life After Residency. Her research interests include clinical rhinology, medical education, and EDI (Equity Diversity Inclusion).

Deepika Chugh

Deepika Chugh BSc, DDS, MSc, FRCDC

Dr. Deepika Chugh received her DDS at the State University of New York at Buffalo and went on to complete a hospital residency at the VA Hospital of Western New York. She practiced general dentistry in Toronto before returning to pursue postgraduate studies. She completed her specialty training and MSc in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine at the University of Toronto. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Deepika is an oral pathologist and assistant professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto, where she is actively involved in undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as the biopsy service. She an associate in Mount Sinai Hospital’s Department of Dentistry, where she practices clinical oral medicine. Her academic interests include virtual microscopy teaching for undergraduate histopathology.

David Chvartszaid is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto and is a member of the editorial board of the Ontario Dentist journal. He is the dentist-in-chief at the Department of Dentistry, AO Dental Center, Baycrest Hospital and a member of staff in the Department of Dentistry, Mount Sinai Hospital. He is a specialist in Prosthodontics and Periodontics and holds master’s degrees in both from the University of Toronto. David Chvartszaid is a past director of the Graduate Prosthodontics program at the University of Toronto and is a past president of the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada.

David’s clinical practice focuses on complex multi-disciplinary care including managing implant complications. He has given over 200 national and international presentations and has co-authored over 100 abstracts, book chapters, and publications on treatment planning, managing implant complications, immediate implant placement and loading, and gerodontology. David is passionate about education and is completing a Doctor of Education degree (EdD).

In his spare time, David enjoys photography, travelling and attending concerts

Karl Cuddy

Dr. Karl Cuddy is an assistant professor at university of Toronto in the graduate training program in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He completed dental (DDS) and medical (MD) school as well as his masters of science (MSc) in pathology at the Schulich school of medicine and dentistry at Western university. Residency training was completed at the affiliated teaching hospitals in London, Ontario. Following this he completed a fellowship in advanced craniomaxillofacial surgery and trauma with the head and neck institute in Portland, Oregon. He is on staff, operating at Mt. Sinai, Princess Margaret and Humber River hospitals. His clinical interests include craniomaxillofacial reconstruction including for patients suffering trauma, diseases of the maxillofacial complex as well as for those with congenital malformations. He has worked to establish a 3D printing lab at the university of Toronto within the confines of the residency training program, is interested in curriculum development as well as virtual surgical planning and patient specific implants for reconstructive surgery. Ongoing research projects include evaluation of dental implants and complex maxillofacial prosthetics for patients with a history of maxillofacial tumour or trauma surgery as well as evaluating outcomes of craniomaxillofacial trauma surgery.

Derek Decloux

Dr. Derek Decloux completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Ottawa, his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of British Columbia, his Master of Science and specialty training in Dental Anesthesia at the University of Toronto, and his Master of Science in Pharmacology and Toxicology at Michigan State University. He practices dental anaesthesia in offices in Southern Ontario, is a staff dentist anesthesiologist at Toronto’s Mount Sinai Hospital’s Department of Dentistry, and is a clinical dental anesthesia instructor and sessional lecturer at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry. He previously served as a full-time dental officer in the Canadian Armed Forces and now continues to serve as a reservist dental officer. He is currently an oral examiner for the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology as well as an examiner for the National Dental Examining Board of Canada. He volunteers his time as an executive for the Canadian Academy of Dental Anaesthesia, as a representative of the Canadian Dental Specialties Association, and as a coach for his children’s hockey and soccer teams. He is past president of the Ontario Dental Society of Anesthesiology.

Nadia Marchese

Nadia Marchese DMD, MSc, FRCDC

Nadia Marchese successfully completed her Master of Science and residency training in Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology (OMOP) at the University of Toronto and obtained her fellowship in both specialities from the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC). She is the current Board of Director for Oral Medicine at the RCDC, and she is an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. She is involved in the clinical teaching of OMOP residents within the graduate program and teaches undergraduate dental students. She maintains active clinical practice limited to oral medicine in the Department of Dentistry, Mount Sinai Hospital, and private offices in the Toronto area.

Brian Rittenberg

Dr. Brian Rittenberg graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1992 with a Bachelor Degree in

Psychology. He then completed his Dental Degree, specialized training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

and a Masters in Bone Biology at the University of Toronto and Toronto General Hospital in 2003.

Dr. Rittenberg is the division head for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Sinai Health System, and is an attending surgeon in the Regional Treatment Centre for Temporomandibular Joint

Reconstruction at Mount Sinai Hospital.

He has served as a line officer and ultimately president of the Ontario Society of Oral and Maxillofacial

Surgeons, is involved with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, previously as the chief examiner for

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and currently as a senior examiner, and is a fellow of the ITI – International

Team for Implantology.

Annie Shrestha

Annie Shrestha BDS, MSc (Endo), PhD, FRCDC

Dr. Annie Shrestha is a full-time assistant professor in the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. She is cross appointed in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, University of Toronto and Department of Dentistry at the Mt. Sinai Hospital, Toronto.

Dr. Shrestha obtained her dental degree from Nepal, M.Sc. from Singapore, and Ph.D. in Nanobiomaterials and M.Sc. (Endodontics) from the University of Toronto. She is a clinician scientist, teaches undergraduate and graduate dental students and maintains a day of private practice limited to Endodontics. She maintains an independent laboratory with research focus on host immune response and development of novel biomaterials towards immunomodulation. Her 17 years of research experience encompasses biophotonics, nano-biomaterials for disinfection and immunology.

She has published over 32 peer-reviewed journal publications, 5 book chapters and presented over 30 research and invited presentations. She currently serves as the Chair of the AAE Regenerative Endodontics Committee, Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics, Frontiers in Dental Medicine and Associate Editor of the Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics. She is the recipient of Endodontic Educator Fellowship Award from the American Association of Endodontists Foundation in 2018 and the Research Grant from the from the American Association of Endodontists Foundation in 2019.

Trevor Thang

Trevor Thang DDS, MSc, Dip. ABOMR, FRCDC

Trevor Thang is an Assistant Professor (Teaching Stream) at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto and a Staff Dentist in the Department of Dentistry at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Trevor is constantly learning new things and truly believes in life-long learning. At the University of Toronto, he is responsible for teaching oral and maxillofacial radiology to the undergraduate and graduate students. His clinical practice focuses on image analysis and disease interpretation, and he uses these cases to better understand the mechanisms behind these rare diseases.

On his spare time, he enjoys playing badminton and staying active with his family. His proudest accomplishment is completing a marathon.
