High Flow Nasal Oxygen: Applications for the OR, Ambulatory & NORA setting

Dr Thomas W. Durick MD
Dr. Thomas Durick is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and College of Medicine and the Associate Director of the department’s Ambulatory Anesthesia Division. He is the Anesthesia Clinical Operations Director of Outpatient Care New Albany Ambulatory Surgery Center, Ohio State’s first ambulatory surgery center.
Prior to coming to Ohio State, Dr. Durick spent more than 30 years in private practice anesthesia, with more than half of that time spent in the ambulatory arena. He served as the medical director and acting administrator of a busy surgery center in the San Francisco Bay area for over a decade. Dr. Durick specializes in outpatient anesthesia, Point of Care Ultrasound (PoCUS), ultrasound guided regional anesthesia and ambulatory surgery center administration, including ASC facility billing, coding, reimbursement, and scheduling efficiency. Since introducing High Flow Nasal Oxygen (HFNO) at his facility, Dr Durick has become a strong advocate for its use, and has spoken on the topic at national forums including: the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia (SAMBA) & the Society for Airway Management (SAM).
